The Android Scripting Environment (ASE) brings scripting languages to Android by allowing you to edit and execute scripts and interactive interpreters directly on the Android device. These scripts have access to many of the APIs available to full-fledged Android applications, but with a greatly simplified interface that makes it easy to:

• Handle intents
• Start activities
• Make phone calls
• Send text messages
• Scan bar codes
• Poll location and sensor data
• Use text-to-speech
• And more

Scripts can be run interactively in a terminal, started as a long running service, or started via Locale. Python, Perl, JRuby, Lua, BeanShell, and shell are currently supported, and we're planning to add more.

SAN TECHNOLOGY

SAN stands for storage area network . As we know that in large business number of servers and number pc users are more and local hardisk of servers and pc do not have enough amount of space. Also it is very difficult for administrator to manage hardisk of each machine. Future expansion of local hardisk is also not sufficent. So now these kind of big industries are using SAN.

SAN TECHNOLOGY:

one centeralized SAN Box is there which will b connected to SAN switch, all the workstations or servers will b connected so SAN box through these switches. volumes and partions to each server will b given from this SAN Box. But its not that easy as it have to meet hardware reqiurment at server or workstation sites that it shuld have 2 HBA cards. All the connections in SAN are fiber channel so that speed from SAN to host is atleast 4Gbps and assigned partition or volume shuld appear as local hardisk to host. now disk mangment and assignment can be done from a centerlized loction very easily by administrator. As far secutity is concern only volume assigned to a perticular host will b visible to it and other host will not b able to access the volume assigned to any other host and how much space is assigned to other host.
Even if any of hardisk is failed in SAN box data will be still available as these volumes are a part of RAID group and also hot spare disk is available in SAN which will invoke if any disk fail in an DAE enclosure.

HARDWARE IN SAN:

In SAN network there is one SAN box which will be having SP (Storage Processors), SPS (Storage Power Supply) and DAE (Disk Array Enclosure). Each DAE will b having 15 Hardisk space u can add maximum 15 HDD in 1 DAE. you can increase the number of DAE as much as ur SAN model supports.
A smallest can have maximum 120 hardisk if it is having 8 DAE and each DAE is filled with 15 HDD. So if Each HDD is of 300GB(minimum size hardisk in SAN) in that SAN box total space is 36000GB or 35TB. Middium SAN solution have 2400 hardisk space and 32 SP and 8 SPS so if each hardisk is 300GB then total space of 720000GB that is 704TB.
Bigger SANs have 9600 HDD space .

Intel And Nokia Teaming Up To Release New Technology

On Tuesday, Intel and Nokia confirmed a long-term union with a vision to create novel mobile technology.

The union aims to create a "new mobile platform beyond today's smartphones, notebooks and netbooks". Can Intel and Nokia live up to this promise? It seems as if they can - they have the technology and knowledge, judging by the products that they are currently providing.

What the main goal of this union between Intel and Nokia could catalyze is a completely new product. A combination of current technologies, such as Ohlhorst.

"For example, how about a mobile device that offers what Amazon's kindle can do, while incorporating some iPhone features and running Windows Mobile, giving users access to thousands of Windows applications? Give that device a touch screen with handwriting recognition and access to wireless technologies, perhaps creating a replacement for a multitude of other devices! Sell that unit via wireless carriers and target the consumer and education market and shake-up the cell phone, Kindle, iPhone and netbook markets all at once."

Having one piece of equipment that is light, easy to carry, and that takes care of what many devices now do would be snatched up by the public. It seems that Nokia and Intel have realized this, and aim to capitalize on it. That could mean more advance, cheaper, faster, and sleeker technology, which the public will jump on - remember the craze for the iPhone, which is even now still going strong, judging by their sales with each new model?

I think it is sufficient to say that we will all be watching to see what this new marriage between Intel and Nokia brings to the mobile market.

Google SMS channel launched in India

Google India has just introduced a free SMS service called Google SMS Channels that lets you subscribe to news alerts, blog updates and other kinds of information like horoscopes, jokes, stocks or even cricket scores via SMS text messages.

The service currently does not use any form of advertising in the messages but it might be added after the commercial launch.

Subscribers to this service can currently join as many as 30 channels. He would however not receive more than 10 SMS messages a day.

Message senders can deliver the message using a web based interface and the subscribers can set the time when they want to receive the messages.

Other than receiving blog RSS feeds via SMS, you may also use the Google SMS service to get news alerts and weather information on your phone.

Another interesting part – you don’t really need a mobile phone to send an SMS to your group as there’s an option in Google SMS channels that lets you can compose and send SMS messages via the web itself. It supports English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.

Google SMS channels currently works only with with phone numbers of India but they are “working towards making this service available to international numbers.” Thanks Amit Somani.
